Low FODMAP pigs in a blanket
As a child, these were my absolute favorite party snacks: low FODMAP pigs in a blanket.
And these snacks are not only a favorite with children. Even if you serve them to adults, they often disappear in no time.
So I thought it was about time I made a low FODMAP and gluten-free version of this simple but popular party snack: low FODMAP pigs in a blanket.
Which ingredients do you need?
This recipe is almost too simple to write an entire blog post about it. You only need gluten-free puff pastry, cocktail-sized hotdogs, and egg yolk:
- Gluten-free puff pastry: I use the gluten-free puff pastry from the brand Consenza that is sold here in the Netherlands. This brand is also low FODMAP.
If you use another brand, make sure that it doesn’t contain any high FODMAP ingredients. You can read more about ingredients to look out for in this blog about label reading. - Cocktail-sized hotdogs: also for this ingredient it is important to check the label on sneaky FODMAPs.
Be careful about products where it says “spices” on the label, but this has not been specified. Then it is possible that the product contains onion or garlic.

Place on a baking tray covered with baking paper.
-
Beat the egg yolk and brush the puff pastry with some egg yolk.

Bake the pigs in a blanket in the oven for 17 to 20 minutes.
