Christmas dinner: 4 low FODMAP main course recipes
I always like to serve one special main course at Christmas dinner and usually, this is a meat or fish recipe. Everyone in our family loves to eat meat, so the main course often contains meat. I like to make slightly more special dishes for Christmas than I do normally or to make a recipe from scratch that I would usually buy in the supermarket. With the low FODMAP diet it also often isn’t possible to buy ready-made foods and therefore I want to inspire you with 4 low FODMAP main course recipes!
Stuffed chicken breast with spinach, feta and sundried tomato
We served this recipe at Christmas dinner last year and it was a huge success. Chicken breasts with fresh spinach, sundried tomatoes and feta. The combination of feta with sundried tomatoes and spinach is delicious and because you cook the chicken breasts in the oven they will stay tender.
Gluten-free Chicken Cordon Bleu
Another chicken dish and this is one of my favourite meat dishes. Now I made it myself once, I know that it isn’t as hard to make chicken cordon bleu from scratch and if you have been slaving in the kitchen to make a recipe like this yourself it tastes a lot better than when you make it from a package!
Hunkar Begendi
Hunkar Begendi is a beautiful dish to serve at Christmas dinner. It literally means ‘The sultan liked it’. And if the sultan thinks it is good, it must be good right! The recipe is made up out of a roasted eggplant puree with cubes of meat (usually beef or lamb) in a tomato sauce. A delicious Turkish meal!
Dutch beef stew
After a Turkish recipe, I couldn’t forget about a traditional Dutch dish. With this recipe, you make a delicious low FODMAP Dutch beef stew. Perfect to serve with rice, potatoes or red cabbage. With a traditional stew you can never go wrong if you ask me.
