Low FODMAP creamed spinach in a dish

Low FODMAP creamed spinach

Before the low FODMAP diet, did you also like to eat store-bought creamed spinach? Then this is the recipe for you!

I made my own low FODMAP creamed spinach but with fresh spinach and a number of tasty additions.

That makes this creamed spinach much tastier than the store-bought version. Once you’ve tasted this, you’ll never want anything else 😉

How to make creamed spinach

In this recipe, I make my own white sauce with butter, gluten-free flour, and lactose-free milk. Butter is low FODMAP, so you can use it without problems.

Bake the spinach in this white sauce. Then add some lactose-free cream to make the creamed spinach really nice and creamy.

As seasonings, I use pepper, salt, and the green part of spring onion.

You can make this low FODMAP creamed spinach in ten minutes. So this is super easy and quick to make and also very tasty!

Description

Homemade low FODMAP creamed spinach made with lactose-free white sauce and cream. Low lactose and vegetarian.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp gluten-free flour (I use Schär Mix It Universal)
  • 200 ml (6.8 fl. oz.) lactose-free whole milk
  • 400 g (14.1 oz) fresh spinach
  • 100 ml (3.4 oz) lactose-free cream
  • Pepper and salt to taste
  • 2 stalks of spring onion, the green part, in rings

Instructions

  1. Heat the butter in a large frying pan.
  2. When the butter has melted, add the flour. Cook for 2 minutes while stirring regularly.
  3. Then add 200 ml of lactose-free whole milk. Stir continuously with a wish and cook for 5 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  4. Add the spinach little by little and cook until it wilts. Repeat until you’ve used all the spinach.
  5. Add the cream and let it heat up.
  6. Season with salt and pepper and add spring onion rings.
  7. Let this cook for a while.
  8. Serve immediately.
