Dutch Vanilla Custard – Vla (Lactose-free, low FODMAP)

Description

Simple Dutch vanilla custard (vla) with only 4 ingredients. Ready in 10 minutes and then you only need to let it cool down. Lactose-free and low FODMAP.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 liter lactose-free milk
  • 50 g custard powder
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod

Instructions

  1. Put the custard powder together with the sugar in a bowl. Add a few tablespoons of the milk and stir everything together until it forms a smooth thick mixture.
  2. Put the rest of the milk in a pan. Scrape the vanilla from the vanilla pod into the pan. Stir together and bring the milk to boil.
  3. Add the custard mixture to the milk while stirring continuously and continue to stir until the milk starts to boil again. The mixture will thicken quickly until it gets a custard-like substance.
  4. Turn off the heat and leave the vanilla custard to cool down. Stir the through the custard now and then while it is cooling down.
  5. Put the Dutch vanilla custard in the fridge until you serve it.
