Description

An Italian grilled cheese sandwich with salami and cheese on sourdough spelt bread. Because some salamis don’t have garlic this recipe is low FODMAP too

Ingredients

Scale
  • Two slices of sourdough spelt bread (normal spelt bread is ok too if you tolerate this)
  • ½ can tomato paste (about 30 g)
  • A slice of yellow cheese
  • A few slices of low FODMAP salami
  • Margarine
  • Fresh basil (dried is also ok)
  • Pepper and salt

Instructions

  1. Spread one side of one slice of bread with tomato paste
  2. Sprinkle some pepper, salt and fresh basil on top.
  3. Put the cheese and a few slices of salami on top of the tomato paste.
  4. Cover with the other slice of bread and spread both outsides of the slices of bread with margarine.
  5. Heat a pan on the stove. Because you have already spread margarine on outside of the sandwich you don’t need to add butter or oil to the pan.
  6. Bake the grilled cheese sandwich for about 5 minutes on each side until the bread has become nicely brown and crunchy and the cheese has melted.
