Description

A basic recipe for low FODMAP pasta sauce! A delicious and simple tomato pasta sauce. The sauce is also gluten- and lactose-free.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can of peeled tomatoes (I use the brand Mutti)
  • 1 tsp Italian herbs
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp garlic-infused olive oil
  • Pepper and salt
  • Optional: a handful of fresh basil

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled tomatoes, Italian herbs, and red wine vinegar in a blender or food processor. Pulse until you have a smooth sauce.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a saucepan. Add the tomato sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and optional fresh basil. Taste and add additional salt or pepper to taste.

Notes

*I choose more expensive canned tomatoes from the Mutti brand because I think these tomatoes have more flavor. This creates a tomato sauce with more flavor.

Storage: You can store the tomato sauce in the refrigerator in a sealed container for about 3 days. You can also freeze it: the sauce will stay good for about 3 months in a sealed container.
