Italian burrata parma ham salad (with low FODMAP option)
I am still in an Italian food phase since my holiday in Italy. Today I have a recipe for you for an amazing Italian burrata parma ham salad.
I have already told you before how I love that Italians can make the most brilliant dishes with only a few (high quality) ingredients. This salad is an example of this.
I will mention immediately that burrata is not low FODMAP because it contains lactose. Burrata is a combination of mozzarella and cream and therefore it contains more lactose than mozzarella.
I take a lactase pill to be able to eat burrata, but to make this recipe low FODMAP you can also use a good buffalo mozzarella. Mozzarella is low FODMAP up to 60 g per portion.
If you have to eat entirely lactose-free you can also use a lactose-free mozzarella. In several European countries, they have lactose-free mozzarella from the brand MinusL.
Burrata has quite a strong flavour and therefore I found it important not to add too many other ingredients to this salad.
I combined the burrata with parma ham (in my eyes the best combination with burrata), tomato, olives and a simple dressing of balsamic crème (a thicker version of balsamic vinegar) and some olive oil.

- Total Time: 5 min
- Servings: 2 1x
- Diet: Gluten Free
Description
With the right ingredients you don’t need much for a great dish. That also counts for this Italian burrata parma ham salad, also low FODMAP.
Ingredients
- Rocket lettuce or mixed lettuce
- 1 burrata (or 1 buffalo mozzarella), 120 g*
- 100 g parma ham
- 2 roma tomatoes
- 50 g black olives
- A splash of olive oil
- Balsamic crème (or normal balsamic vinegar)
- Pepper and salt
Instructions
- Divide the rocket lettuce over two plates.
- Cut the burrata in two and put it in the middle of the plates.
- Cut the parma ham into pieces and the tomatoes into wedges.
- Divide the parma ham, tomato and the black olives over the salad.
- Sprinkle some olive oil and balsamic crème over the lettuce and flavour with pepper and salt.
Notes
*Burrata is not tested and probably contains quite a high amount of lactose. If you are intolerant to lactose, you can use mozzarella instead. This is a lot lower in lactose and low FODMAP.
